Senior Structural BIM Technician

Our client located in Toronto is seeking a Senior Structural BIM technician to join their growing Buildings business and to work within the Structural team. This is a 6 month contract position with opportunities to transition into a permanent role based on performance.

 

Responsibilities:

•         Structural BIM lead for a large infrastructure project.

•         Gatekeeper for all in-coming and out-going model and drawing information.

•         Troubleshoots problems that arise within the rapidly changing digital coordination environment.

•         Develop structural engineer’s concepts and sketches into accurate models and drawings.

•         Prepare reinforced concrete and structural steel drawings and details.

•         Manage submissions and ensure adequate QA/QC protocols are implemented.

•         Manage a highly detailed BIM model and annotative information into an organized and easy to read package.

•         3D modelling of above and below ground structures in AECOsim.

•         Using the 3D AECOsim models to prepare of 2D drawings in MicroStation.

•         Coordinate and collaborate with BIM technicians and Engineers from other disciplines.

•         Identify critical details and interfaces to the Engineer.

 

Qualifications:

•         Associate or bachelor’s degree in BIM technology or related field.

•         8-12 years’ full-time experience with structural BIM design.

•         Proficient in AECOsim and MicroStation.

•         Knowledge of AutoCAD and Rhino would be beneficial.

•         Experience in Revit would be beneficial.

•         Experience working on TTC projects would be beneficial.

•         Knowledge of TTC drawing procedures and guidelines would be beneficial.

•         Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment.

•         Highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges.

•         Comfortable in a team environment, sharing roles and responsibilities.

•         Detail and accuracy orientated with the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in a clear manner.
